TWO OREGON SCHOOL DISTRICTS CHOOSE COMPUTER AUTOMATION SYSTEMS FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Mountain Home, Ark. — June 28, 2007 — Two public school districts in Marion County, Ore. have chosen Computer Automation Systems Inc. http://www.computerautomation.com/ to provide a web-based software solution to manage services for students in special education and Section 504 programs. Cascade School District 5 and North Marion School District 15 will be the first districts in Oregon to implement the company’s Special Education Automation Software (SEAS™) to reduce paperwork, improve compliance and increase efficiency system-wide.

Cascade School District
Located about 10 miles southeast of Salem, Cascade School District in Turner, Ore. enrolls approximately 2,300 students in grades K-12. The district plans to integrate SEAS with its student information system to eliminate duplicate data entry and improve efficiency, while increasing collaboration among service providers.

“We’d been limping along with a database program that we kept revising to meet our needs but it wasn’t very reliable,” said Dr. Claudia Clark, special services director for Cascade. “We reviewed three different products and found SEAS had many features that will serve us well. We like that SEAS’ opening page reminds case managers about due dates on IEPs and reevaluations, and that it allows different service providers to work on the same IEP and have access to the most current information. We think SEAS will increase the efficiency of our case managers and improve our ability to meet compliance timelines — it has many advantages.”

North Marion School District
North Marion School District in Aurora, Ore. enrolls almost 2,000 students across four schools, and serves the communities of Aurora, Broadacres, Butteville, Donald and Hubbard. North Marion will implement SEAS and the Assessment Report Manager module, a report writing tool, to save time while increasing efficiency and accountability.

“Our previous system didn’t allow us to disaggregate data for state reporting and it was quickly becoming obsolete,” said Sharon Lohse , special education director for North Marion. “We reviewed a few different programs and selected SEAS because we felt comfortable with both the program and the company’s excellent support. With SEAS, we’ll be able to provide classroom teachers with student information in a more efficient, timely manner, and make paperwork less time-consuming so they can spend more time with students. We’re excited to be leading the way in implementing a new kind of software in Oregon.”

About SEAS
Used by more U.S. school districts than any other special education management system, SEAS helps districts of all sizes increase the effectiveness of their special education programs by better managing compliance, administration and reporting. SEAS helps reduce the administrative burdens of paperwork and compliance so teachers have more time to focus on their real passion — helping children learn.
