Kansas City, Missouri School District Selects SEAS™ Special Education Management Solution

Mountain Home, AR – August 18, 2008 – After a competitive bidding process involving vendors from around the country, the Kansas City, Missouri School District (KCMSD) has selected Computer Automation Systems, Inc.’s (CAS) SEAS™ special education management solution to replace its legacy solution.

“It was very important to us that the solution we picked had the ability to stay current with changing state and federal regulations,” said Dr. Christine Hernandez, Special Education Director for KCMSD. “CAS has the staffing capability to provide on-site service to our schools. Their staff has demonstrated its commitment to the success of Missouri school districts. We feel this is the right partnership for the Kansas City, Missouri School District.”

KCMSD plans to implement the full SEAS package to manage their special education plans, data, and reporting. The district also will deploy the SEAS Services Accountability and Medicaid Claiming modules. The Related Service Tracking feature will allow the district to easily document all related service sessions that are required by student IEPs in order to maintain their district compliance and provide accountability reporting to parents and students. With the Medicaid Claiming module, KCMSD will be able to process and bill for all eligible Medicaid reimbursement fees that are due to the district.

A 100 percent Web-based product, SEAS is deployed to more school districts nationwide than any other solution. CAS has demonstrated its ability to deploy and service customers of all sizes – from districts with less than 10 IEP students to the third largest district in the U.S with over 100,000 IEP students.

“Missouri was the second state we took the SEAS solution,” said CAS President and CEO Harvey Hughes. “We are proud to serve over 140 districts in Missouri – from the smallest of districts to two of the three largest districts. Our focus has always been on service and taking care of those customers as if they were our own family. We’re so very pleased to have Kansas City as part of that family and look forward to helping them solve their special education automation issues.”
